Oaks Park High School has been told by the education regulator it has “improved significantly” across all areas following an ungraded visit in April.
Ungraded inspections are used by Ofsted to check whether effective action has been taken by ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ schools to maintain the standards identified at its previous inspection.
The school was previously rated ‘outstanding’ for its sixth form provision in 2019 and ‘good’ in all other areas.
It could be headed for more ‘outstanding’ grades at the next inspection.

Ofsted inspectors found that pupils “work hard and achieve exceptionally well” and are also “respectful and polite” towards each other.
A report published this month said: “Pupils enjoy school therefore they attend well.
“Where this is not the case the school engages well with pupils and families to remove any barriers.
“Pupils enjoy warm and nurturing relationships with staff.”

The school’s curriculum was called “ambitious” by Ofsted, and even described as a “super-curriculum”, with subject offerings such as sports leadership and Mandarin.
In English, the pupils have a chance to read “complex texts” from authors including Shakespeare and Chaucer.

Outside of learning, inspectors detailed how Oaks Park has a “wide-ranging extra-curricular offer”, which has led to pupils developing “resilience and leadership skills”.
The report added that it has raised money to support mental health and homeless charities in the area, and that older pupils “support their younger peers with their learning”.

The school’s leadership was described by Ofsted as “exceptional”, with “high-quality” development opportunities for staff.
Joanne Hamill, headteacher at Oaks Park High, said the school community is “incredibly proud” of the positive feedback from its latest inspection.
Ms Hamill told the Recorder: “This recognition is a testament to the teamwork and care that underpin everything we do.
“We remain focused on building on this strong foundation and continuing to support every child to reach their full potential.”
