Brownhill Road Catford crash: Four boys arrested after chase

The teenagers are suspected of robbery and weapon offences after allegedly trying to flee the police following a crash on Brownhill Road.

Officers were on patrol on the road around 5.30pm on June 9 when they tried to pull over a car.

The driver did not stop and was chased along Brownhill Road, crashing into two other cars at the junction with Torridon Road.

Six injured and five in hospital after crash in Catford

The occupants left the car and allegedly tried to run away, but were detained by officers nearby.

Paramedics reported that there were six people injured, with police upgrading this to seven.

Five of these were taken to hospital – three by ambulance and two by the police – none with serious injuries.

Four boys, all 17, were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, possession of a weapon and allowing to be carried in a stolen vehicle.

They remain in custody.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Four teenagers have been arrested after a police pursuit in Catford.

“Officers were on patrol in Brownhill Road, Catford on Monday, 9 June at around 17:26hrs when they attempted to pull over a car, who had quickly driven away when the driver saw police.

“The vehicle failed to stop and was pursued along Brownhill Road, where it was involved in minor collisions with two other vehicles at the junction with Torridon Road.

“The occupants then left the vehicle before attempting to run away. They were detained by officers nearby.

“Seven people reported injuries, and five were taken to hospital. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening or life changing.  

“Following medical assessment, four 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, possession of a weapon and allowing to be carried in a stolen vehicle.

“They remain in custody.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.31pm yesterday (9 June) to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Brownhill Road and Torridon Road, SE6.

“We sent resources including two ambulance crews and an incident response officer.

“We treated six patients at the scene and took three of them to hospital.”
