Several local schools will benefit from a £110.3 million government fund aimed at fixing urgent building issues across London.
Fairford Academy, Peareswood Primary School, and Townley Grammar School are among those set to receive funding for urgent repairs as part of the Labour Government’s £110.3 million investment plan to improve school buildings across London.
Daniel Francis, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, said: “I welcome the Government’s focus on ensuring all our children have a safe, warm environment to learn.
“Schools are more than just buildings, they are part of our community.
“This welcome funding is an investment in Bexleyheath and Crayford, and an investment in our children and their future.
“Showing them their education matters, their futures matter, and that this Government is determined to give them the best possible start in life.”
The funding will be used to address longstanding issues including damaged roofs, asbestos, and reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC).
The plan is part of Labour’s broader effort to improve public services and restore pride in the education system.
The Government said the repairs are vital to ensure students and staff can learn and work in safe, modern environments.
