Gallows Corner roundabout full closure: All the roads shut

Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that Gallows Corner roundabout and flyover will be shut to all traffic from June 23 until September.

This means no general vehicle traffic will be able to pass through Gallows Corner in any direction – except emergency vehicles, black cabs, and TfL buses.

Roads leading into and out of the junction face months of partial closure, including some sections with no access at all.

The closures are for the strengthening and refurbishment of the flyover, which was initially built in the 1970s as a temporary structure.

TfL has not yet confirmed a specific end date for the works.

All the roads shut as part of the Gallows Corner full closure

Straight Road (A118)

Straight Road will be closed between Gallows Corner and Masefield Crescent with no access for the duration of the works.

Main Road (A118)

Main Road will be shut between Gallows Corner and Upper Brentwood Road with no access for the duration of the works.

Colchester Road (A12)

Colchester Road will be closed between Gallows Corner and Bryant Avenue with no access for the duration of the works.

It will also be shut between Bryant Avenue and Gooshays Drive/Gubbins Lane, with access only for residents or businesses.

Eastern Avenue East (A12) 

Eastern Avenue East will be shut between Gallows Corner and Masefield Crescent with no access for the duration of the works.

A long section of the road will also be shut between Masefield Crescent and Pettits Lane/ Pettits Lane North, with access only for residents and businesses.

Southend Arterial Road (A127)

Southend Arterial Road will be shut between Gallows Corner and Ardleigh Green Road/Squirrels Heath Road with no access for the duration of the works.
