The night-time event on May 8 was attended by 550 people and featured speeches from the Deputy Civic Mayor of Croydon, Richard Chatterjee, and Pastor Malcolm Newman from Old Coulsdon Congregational Church.
The Redhill Corps of Drum & Band, the 17th Purley Scout Group, and the 285 [Coulsdon & Purley] Squadron Air Training Corps, among others, played significant roles in the commemoration.
The event was organised by the Celebration Commemoration of VE Day Plus 80 Committee.
