The Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) Housing Development Team, in partnership with Qualis Commercial, is developing the site in Waltham Abbey.

The project consists of 22 two-bedroom terraced houses and six three-bedroom terraced houses, arranged over five blocks.

It is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The houses are being constructed by 3ACE using a timber-frame system and sustainable design.

They will feature air-source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points.

Portfolio Holder for Housing Councillor Nigel Bedford said: “We are on track to deliver these homes before the end of the year and look forward to handing over to the Housing Development Team and seeing the first families move in.

“These are high-quality, family-sized houses and we have every confidence they will add great benefit to the council’s affordable housing portfolio.”

The development is on brownfield land, which the council says is a sustainable solution for new homes.

A spokesperson for Qualis said: “The progress at Roundhills is testament to the hard work and collaboration between our Housing Development Team and Qualis.

“By creating energy-efficient properties, we are continuing to set a standard for our housebuilding programme, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and delivering high-quality housing for the future.”

The council said this project demonstrates its dedication to providing much-needed affordable housing for the community.
