Transport for London (TfL) first reported a fire alert at High Street Kensington at 4pm this afternoon (May 10).
Firefighters from Kensington and Hammersmith responded to the fire which involved a railway sleeper at the station.
The “small” fire was under control by 4.45pm, a London Fire Brigade spokesperson said.
The incident prompted the entire Circle line and District line to be suspended, as well as the Hammersmith & City line between Barking and Liverpool Street.
As of 5.15pm, the District line remains suspended eastbound – but the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines have reopened.
Severe delays have been reported on all three lines. Putney Bridge station was also closed by TfL to “prevent overcrowding”.
TfL has also been approached for more information.
