The fast food restaurant at 81–83 The Broadway has applied to change the terms of its existing premises licence to strengthen security measures at the venue.
The variation application, lodged by Demipower 1991 Limited, seeks to update a current condition so that a minimum of one door staff member must be present whenever the restaurant is open beyond midnight.
According to the proposed wording, the door staff would be responsible for monitoring who enters the premises and helping to manage customer dispersal from the surrounding area once they leave.
The application also includes the addition of further conditions related to safeguarding and staff training, aimed at promoting public safety and supporting the licensing objectives set out under the Licensing Act 2003.
If approved, the new measures would not change the restaurant’s current operating hours or activities — they would simply amend the conditions under which late-night trading can continue.

Members of the public have until May 5, 2025, to make written representations. These can be submitted by email to licensing@merton.gov.uk or by post to the Licensing Section, London Borough of Merton, 2nd Floor, Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5DX.
Merton Council has warned that it is an offence to knowingly or recklessly make a false statement in connection with a licensing application. Offenders could face an unlimited fine if convicted.
The application follows a similar move by McDonald’s, located just a few doors down at 1–3 The Broadway, which recently applied to operate 24 hours a day.
Under that plan, the restaurant would be allowed to serve customers both in-store and via delivery and takeaway between 11pm and 5am.
Both applications are currently under consideration.
