Eddwin Cortes-Pinerez, of Mitcham Lane, sexually assaulted five women in the space of three weeks, each time quickly approaching the women from behind and grabbing their bottoms before cycling off.
On Thursday, April 17, a Woolwich Crown Court judge jailed the 40-year-old for 19 months and banned him from riding a bicycle.
Prosecutor Mr O’Sullivan said: “The offences are part of a pattern of offending with a consistent modus operandi where in each case he would use a bicycle to approach lone women walking or commuting in public, approaching them at speed and soundlessly, suddenly and without warning offending against them by grabbing their buttocks and squeezing it firmly.
“He then used his bicycle to speed away and in most of these case was not able to be identified by the complainants.”
The offences took place between July 3 and July 24 in Greenwich, Blackheath, Kidbrooke, Charlton and Surrey Quays.

Mr O’Sullivan said Cortes-Pinerez has no convictions in the UK but police have very little information about him.
“He’s said to be a Columbian national who has been in the country since 2022 but there’s a degree of confusion about his background,” he said.
Cortes-Pinerez was arrested on July 30 and has been remanded in custody since.
The court heard that he had initially claimed these were “pranks” but later pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault.

He was also given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order banning him from cycling.
Recorder Goudie said: “I’m satisfied based on the seriousness of the offences I’m dealing with that the defendant poses a risk of sexual harm to the public and that an order is necessary to protect against the risk.
“Central to the offending is the defendant’s use of his bicycle to get close to the victims quickly, quietly and unseen, and then to be able to escape quickly.”
