The money is for anything that improves neighbourhoods or opens opportunities to young people.
The community chest has been opened for a second round of funding by Enfield Council’s Meridian Water regeneration project to apply by May 27 for grants up to £10,000 or larger hand-outs up to £60,000.
“We want this fund to make a real difference in Edmonton,” council leader Ergin Erbil said. “This is for voluntary groups whether for young people activities, creating safe spaces or providing jobs and skills training. This can make them a reality.”
Examples from the first round included sensory rooms in primary schools, a new art club, weekly theatre classes for the disabled, bicycle loans and cycling lessons.
The Meridian Water regeneration is creating 10,000 homes in Edmonton as well as jobs, open spaces and training academies.
