A total of 2,924 children in the borough secured their top choice primary school on National Primary Offer Day – 96.25 pc of the 3,038 applications received.
This is the highest in London and beats the capital’s average of 87.92 pc, according to Barking & Dagenham Council.
It follows the borough’s earlier success of having the highest secondary school first preference placements.

Councillor Elizabeth Kangethe, cabinet member for educational attainment and school improvement, said she “couldn’t be prouder”.
Cllr Kangethe said: “I’m really pleased that Barking and Dagenham is consistently providing most of our young people with places at their first-choice primary schools.
“Being at the top of London for both primary and school first preference placements this year is a tremendous achievement.
“The satisfaction of both the students and their parents as they prepare for this significant educational milestone, within one of their chosen schools, is deeply fulfilling.”
The council thanked the school admissions team for their “tireless efforts and dedication”.
Parents and carers are urged to accept their places by the deadline of Wednesday, April 30.
