On the online review website Tripadvisor, The Golden Chippy has an impressive 4.8/5 rating from more than 2,400 reviews.
Out of those reviews more than 2,000 are five star and 200 are four star, making it London’s best reviewed chippy.
The Greenwich-based chip shop is often praised for its “perfectly cooked meals” all while being affordable.
London’s best fish and chip shop with a perfect rating
The family-run Golden Chippy first opened in 2005 and has quickly become a key part of the local Greenwich community.
The chip shop shares that the most important thing for them is their close relationships with regulars and the quality of the food.
Sharing: “We are very picky about our ingredients and carefully source them from trusted suppliers.
“The key to our success is very fresh ingredients cooked with all our love and, of course, our secret Golden Chippy recipe.”
In 2016, the Golden Chippy earned the official title of London’s number one restaurant on TripAdvisor, taking the spot from Claridge’s, The Foyer.
The Golden Chippy offers an extensive menu, offering fresh fish in a “light, crispy batter.”
Fish options on the menu include cod, rock, haddock, halibut, plaice, scampi and skate.
Guests can also enjoy the likes of chicken with nuggets or southern fried pieces, all served with chips and a Mediterranean-style salad.
There are also burgers and jacket potatoes on the menu, along with pies and sausages.
The Golden Chippy is highly praised on TripAdvisor, with one guest describing it as the “perfect chippy” sharing: “No frills, just perfectly done sausage and chips, and the southern chicken was divine.”
