Officers were alerted to the discovery in a garden in Church Grove just before 2.10pm on April 12.
Police believe the unearthed human remains are non-recent but are now working to establish an identity they belonged to.
Members of the local Church Grove project were building a play area when a human jaw was seen falling out of a gravel bag, according to several reports.
One mum told The Sun: “You see this stuff on the news, but it was right outside our front door.
“It’s so much more immediate, you just never think something like this will happen so close to you.
“We are extremely shaken, I think the whole community is.
“Tiny kids were playing right next to literal bits of human arm.”
Another mum added: “I’ve literally just had a baby, it’s absolutely terrifying, we moved here to be safe we just don’t know what to do.”
There have been no arrests at this stage and a crime scene remains in place at this time.
