Officers from the Surrey Police were called at around 2pm this afternoon (April 11) with reports of a crash involving multiple vehicles between junctions 13 and 12 anti-clockwise.
Two of the vehicles involved caught fire in the incident, resulting the road to be closed and traffic to be held whilst the scene was made safe.
Emergency responders are still at the scene, with two of five lanes now open.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service was also dispatched to the crash in two ambulances, where they discovered two patients with injuries.
They were treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital in Chertsey.
According to a Surrey Police spokesperson, one of the injured patients has suffered serious injuries.
They said: “We received a report of a four-vehicle collision on the M25 anticlockwise between junctions 13 and 12, that took place at just before 2pm this afternoon (11 April).
“One person was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

“Due to two of the vehicles catching fire, the road was temporarily closed, however two lanes are now open.”
Delays in the area are exceeding an hour, with congestion backing up past junction 17.
The Surrey Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for a comment.
