Romford Town Wombles cleaned up the town as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean’ and Havering Council’s Where We Live campaign.
The volunteers came armed with litter picks, bags and spades — with 50 bags of rubbish collected in just one day.
Councillors, including leader Ray Morgon, also joined in and helped out.
Cllr Morgon said: “There are those who think it is okay to drop litter instead of putting it in a bin.
“We do our bit cleaning streets as well as clearing fly-tipping and litter — we all got stuck in.”
