The initiative, Hour To Give, is led by south London charity MammaKind and encourages people to help single mums in their community by giving an hour of their time.
This could be by helping their children make a card, cooking breakfast, or simply showing up with flowers and kind words.

Tasha said: “Being a single mum means doing both jobs – mum and dad – and while it’s special, it’s also full-on.
“Since my stroke, I can’t work or teach Zumba like I used to, but I’m so committed to being the best mum I can to Archie.
“I’m lucky to have my sister Emma, but if it wasn’t for her, Mother’s Day would just be another day.
“This campaign will really make a difference for mums like me.”
Tasha had a stroke in 2022 at the age of 35, which left her unable to walk, talk, or care for her young son Archie alone.
After months of intensive rehabilitation, she has regained her independence but still faces challenges.
She is now using her strength to advocate for other single mums across South London and beyond.
MammaKind, which runs a baby bank for families in need, started the Hour To Give campaign after research showed that 45 per cent of single mums get less than an hour to themselves a day, and 36 per cent simply want to be told they’re appreciated on Mother’s Day.

The initiative encourages anyone with a single mum in their life – a neighbour, colleague, family friend – to do one thoughtful thing this Mothering Sunday.
Local businesses like Gail’s Bakery Blackheath and The Blackheath House are already on board, donating flowers and food to support the campaign.
Kirsty Lowe, co-founder of MammaKind, said: “Whether it’s rustling up some eggs on toast or simply telling a single mum she’s appreciated – it matters.
“Tasha’s story captures the heart of what we’re trying to do.
“We want to make sure no single mum is left out this Mother’s Day – not just this year, but every year.”
Since 2020, MammaKind has supported more than 8,000 family members, with most of their beneficiaries being single mothers of children aged five and under.
As for Tasha, she’s proof that strength comes in many forms – and this Mother’s Day, she’s using hers to inspire South London to show up for the mums who need it most.
Get involved by donating an hour of your time this Sunday, or by posting your support online with #HourToGive.
