The incident happened in Grahame Park Way near Booth Road shortly before 3.10pm today (March 25).
Police and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a woman injured.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say the car had driven away from a police vehicle prior to the crash taking place.
The car reportedly did not stop but was found abandoned a short time later.
Work is ongoing to locate the occupants of the vehicle.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Shortly before 15:10hrs on Tuesday, 25 March a car was in collision with a female pedestrian in Booth Road, junction with Falcon Way, NW9.
“The car had driven away from a police vehicle prior to the collision taking place.
“Officers provided treatment to the woman prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service.
“However, despite the efforts of the emergency services the woman died at the scene.
“Road closures remain in in place.
“The car did not stop but was found abandoned a short time later. Work is ongoing to locate the occupants of the car.
“There has been no arrests and enquiries continue.
“Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD4440/25Mar.
A spokesperson London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.08pm today (25 March) to reports of a road traffic collision on Grahame Park Way, NW9.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
