Dating back to 1762, this Grade II-listed pub not only boasts a roaring fire for the winter but also a beer garden for sunny days.
The Ship, in Main Road, gets 4.5 stars from punters on both Google and TripAdvisor, and many mention the “lovely” garden.
One Google reviewer said: “An excellent pub.
“Always drop in for a drink when we are nearby. Decent beer garden which has its own bar as well.”
The Victoria, Romford – 4.3 stars
The Victoria is a Craft Union Pub in Victoria Road, Romford, which describes itself as a “traditional pub” with a “great atmosphere”.
It gets rave reviews – with an average of 4.3 stars from 198 reviews – and many regulars praise the boozer’s “hidden” garden with its own TV screens.
One customer left a five-star review on Google last week, saying: “Lovely little local pub.
“Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Lovely little garden too.”
The Fatling, Hornchurch – 4.2 stars

Located in High Street, Hornchurch, The Fatling has a four-star rating on TripAdvisor and 4.2 stars on Google Reviews.
According to its general manager Sandy Castle, the boozer is “famous” for its beer terrace, which has its own bar and heaters.
Sandy previously told the Recorder that “the outside has basically become more popular than the inside”.
The Ardleigh, Hornchurch – 4.1 stars
The Ardleigh reopened in September 2024 after a refurbishment, with a “brighter, more contemporary aesthetic” according to pub chain Ember Inns.
The boozer in Ardleigh Green Road gets 4.1 stars on Google Reviews, with several customers noting the “big garden”.
One five-star review said: “Great local pub, decent food, huge beer garden and excellent staff.”
The Goose, Romford – 4.1 stars

Right opposite Romford station, The Goose claims to have the “largest pub garden in town”.
The boozer, owned by Great UK Pubs, scores an average of 4.1 stars on Google Reviews from nearly 2,000 reviews – more than 100 of which mention the beer garden.
Jessica Gibbons, who ranked the pub five stars on Google Reviews two months ago, said: “The pub has an amazing atmosphere and a beautiful sized beer garden.
“Perfect for a night out with friends.”
