British Transport Police officers were alerted to the incident at Upminster railway station in Station Road at around 7pm on March 16.
The report they received was of a man acting suspiciously in the station.
Officers were dispatched to the scene and were accompanied by firearms officers.
Footage shared online captured the moment a number of armed police officers made their way into the station, lit up by blue lights.

The station was searched, and police were unable to locate the man.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Upminster railway station at around 7pm on Sunday (16 March) following reports of a man acting suspiciously in the station.
“Officers attended, including firearms officers, and conducted a thorough search of the station and no trace of the person was found.”
