Newly published data from the Metropolitan Police has revealed that there were 2,102 stop and search incidents, involving a total of 10,564 individuals.
The data logged the number of incidents and individuals between March 2023 and February 2025.
Greenwich ranked 6th out of the 32 London boroughs and was the first in south east London on the list.
The most frequently stopped and searched age group was 18 to 24-year-olds, with a total of 2,949 people in this group being stopped.
Shockingly, the second most common group was 14 to 17-year-olds, with 1,920 teenagers stopped and searched.
Of those, 768 were stopped on suspicion of carrying weapons, knives, or blades, and 739 were suspected of carrying drugs.
Additionally, 413 teenagers were stopped on suspicion of theft, handling stolen goods, or criminal damage.
Out of the 1,920 teenagers, 252 were arrested.
In Greenwich, 166 children aged 10 to 13 were also stopped and searched.
Of these, 69 were suspected of carrying weapons, 55 were suspected of theft or handling stolen goods, 31 were suspected of having drugs, and 5 were suspected of carrying fireworks.
Only 20 of these resulted in arrests.
Lastly, 16 children under 10 were stopped, 11 for suspicion of drugs, and the other 5 for theft.
In terms of demographics, more men were stopped and searched than women.
8,566 men were stopped by police, while 1,176 women were stopped.
The remaining 813 were not recorded.
Other boroughs in south London that ranked higher than Greenwich were Southwark and Lambeth, which came in at number two and number five,e respectively.
Westminster had the most in the whole of London, with 23,934 incidents of stop and searches.
Lewisham was the next south east London borough after Greenwich to be on the list, coming in at number nine with 9,902.
Lewisham also saw the most crimes committed in south east London in January and February 2025.
