Fire crews from Harlow, Loughton, Cheshunt and Enfield were called to an incident in Galley Hill Road last night following reports of a roof fire.
On arrival, after 10.30pm, crews reported that the roof of a bungalow was fully alight.
The fire was extinguished in sections.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two people had escaped the property before the arrival of the crews, and firefighters worked together to rescue a woman.
A spokesman said: “All three occupants were left in the care of the Ambulance Service.
“A fire investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire.”
