Detective Sergeant Gethin Jones was accused by six of his colleagues, most of them of junior rank, of sexual harassment, as well as inappropriate sexual and misogynistic communication.
The officer, who was attached to a policing unit covering Ealing, Hillingdon and Hounslow appeared at a misconduct hearing earlier this month.
The panel heard that the incidents took place over a three year period starting in July 2019, both while he was on- and off-duty, including phone messages and face-to-face comments.
It was found that DS Jones had breached standards of professional behaviour at a level of gross misconduct.
He was fired without notice and will be barred from being employed by the police in the future.
Following his dismissal, Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall, who leads policing in west London, described DS Jones’ behaviour as “completely unacceptable”.
She said: “He made his colleagues, most of them a junior rank, feel extremely uncomfortable by his behaviour. It’s right that he has been dismissed with immediate effect.”
“Work should be a safe space with colleagues you can trust and feel comfortable around.
“I would like to praise those colleagues for coming forward and reporting DS Jones’ offensive and inappropriate behaviour.
“I would encourage anyone else who is experiencing something similar, to do the same.
“Anyone who behaves in a manner like DS Jones is not fit to serve in our organisation and they will be rooted out.”
