The 13-floor tower block on Yarnton Way, which is managed by Peabody, first lost its water supply on Monday night (March 10), and the issue has persisted since.
Sarah Fletcher, a resident of Blewbury House, told the News Shopper: “We waited to see if it was fixed on Tuesday morning, but it still wasn’t on.
“I called the out-of-hours service on Tuesday night, and I was told that a flat had a massive leak, which flooded another flat, so they had to turn the water off.
“This flat is the only one in the building owned by a private landlord, so Peabody Housing didn’t want to touch it.”
Sarah, who has been using her mum’s house to wash, said other residents do not have the same option.
She added: “All this time, we can’t flush our toilets, wash up, or even have a shower.
“At the moment, the water is working, but it keeps getting switched off without notice.”
A spokesperson for Peabody Homes said the pipe in question has been replaced and the leak is now “fixed.”
A spokesperson for Peabody said: “We’re sorry that residents have had an intermittent water supply this week following a leak in one of the homes.
“We had to turn off the water while we found the problem and replaced a pipe.
“We contacted residents to explain what was happening and the leak is now fixed.
“We’ll continue to carry out checks and ask anyone who has any problems with their water to contact us.”
Julia, who lives on the fourth floor, said the issue has left her feeling “embarrassed” to leave home for hospital appointments.
She told the News Shopper: “How are we able to brush our teeth?
“I wanted temporary accommodation, and we were told the water would be fixed.
“We’ve never had benefits, we’ve always paid by direct debit, and they’ve left us in this situation.”
