The Blackwall Tunnel is closed due to a crash southbound from the A12 / A13 to Greenwich today (March 10).
Police were called at around 8.50am and found a lorry crashed with part of the tunnel.
There have been no injuries reported, but the southbound tunnel has been shut for two hours as recovery work takes place.
It is causing congestion to Bromley by Bow back along the A12, and A13 queues back to Beckton – with traffic earlier reaching Hackney Wick.
There is also heavy southbound traffic through the Rotherhithe Tunnel and Tower Bridge.
Both the 108 and 115 bus routes are being rerouted due to the disruptions.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 08:50hrs on Monday, 10 March to reports of collision in the southbound Blackwall Tunnel.
“A lorry collided with part of the tunnel.
“No reports of any injuries.
“The southbound tunnel remains closed while the incident is dealt with.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.”
