Police were called to an area on the outskirts of the town around 8pm on Tuesday (March 4).
Officers gained entry to the site and found parts of a Lexus that had been reported as stolen.
A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Car parts believed to belong to other stolen vehicles have also been found at the site.
A chop shop is a garage where stolen vehicles are dismantled so their parts can be sold or given false identities.
Brentwood and Epping Forest District Commander Chief Inspector Terry Fisher said: “We know the devastating impact having your vehicle stolen can have.
“Tackling this type of criminality is a force priority, and we are focused on tackling organised vehicle crime in particular.
“Our investigation into this specific incident is progressing at pace.”
