Viewers were eager for the return of Gita Kapoor (played by Shobu Kapoor) after leaving the soap in 1998.
She left the show after she and her family were caught up in a local scandal, forcing them to leave London in search of a new life.
Recently, Gita was mentioned by her former best friend Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), leaving many hopeful of her return.

Taking to r/EastEnders on Reddit, one fan of the BBC show asked: “What are the chances we’ll get to see another 90’s favourite [Gita Kapoor] return?
“I hope so as Cindy has mentioned her a few times now!”
Responding to this, many shared their eagerness for her to make a return to the soap with one writing: “I’d love to see Gita and Sanjay back even if just a short stint. They had great storylines.”
Another EastEnders fan added: “I wouldn’t mind. She was a great character and I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a guest stint when Cindy returns from a supposed break.”

A third person said: “Love to see Gita again and Sanjay, they were brilliant,” while a fourth penned: “I liked Gita, and loved the actress as Mrs Khan, but Sanjay not so much.
“He just always seems to be gossiping and butting in with his unasked opinions from what I see of him on YouTube.”
