Rob Waller, managing director of Soundcrash, said: “We are beyond thrilled to welcome the legendary Nile Rodgers & CHIC to South Facing Festival for Love Motion.
“Nile’s influence on music is unparalleled, his timeless hits and groundbreaking collaborations have shaped generations.
“This all-day celebration of disco, soul, and electronic music will be truly special, and we can’t wait to see Crystal Palace Park come alive with the energy and joy his music brings.”
Nile Rodgers, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, and multiple Grammy award winner, is the co-founder of CHIC.
With CHIC, Nile pioneered a musical language with hits like Le Freak (Atlantic’s best-selling single) and sparked hip-hop with Good Times and Rapper’s Delight.
His work in the CHIC Organisation, including We Are Family (Sister Sledge), I’m Coming Out (Diana Ross) and on his own Let’s Dance (David Bowie) and Like a Virgin (Madonna), has sold over 500 million albums, while his Grammy Award-winning collaborations with Daft Punk (Random Access Memories) and Beyonce (Renaissance) reflect the vanguard of contemporary hits.
South Facing is a multi-day, open-air festival that takes place each summer in the historically significant Crystal Palace Bowl.
The festival boasts a huge choice of top-end street food and drink options including street food, craft ale and rum shack, and is easily accessible from London and all over the South East thanks to the various train and bus routes, including Crystal Palace (TfL Overground and National Rail), Penge West (TfL Overground and National Rail), and Gipsy Hill (National Rail).
Previous years have included huge headline performances, with Grace Jones, Damian Marley, Supergrass, Sleaford Mods, The English National Opera, Richard Ashcroft, Becky Hill, Bombay Bicycle Club, Jungle, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, all gracing the stage.
Tickets for the festival, which will also see Basement Jaxx perform on August 23, go on sale on February 28 at 10am.
