One Club Row is a new eatery from chef Patrick Powell, James Dye and Benjy Leibowitz set to open above The Knave of Clubs in late March.
Located on the first floor, it will have its own private entrance from the narrow street at the back of the pub, and a separate identity to The Knave.

It closed as a pub in 1994 and became a restaurant Les Trois Garcons before officially reopening on Thursday (February 27) as a traditional watering hole.
Serving Sunday lunches and rotisserie dishes, The Knave is the trio’s homage to British pub culture, drawing on James’ experience at The Camberwell Arms.

(Image: Justin De Souza) And One Club Row is their tribute to the glamour, energy and old school hospitality of New York nightlife. Drawing on the decade Benjy spent working in the city’s restaurants, there will be oysters, martinis, a house pianist at weekends, classic bistro dishes and Benjy greeting guests and working the room as he did as a maître d’ in the Big Apple.
In his role as culinary director, Patrick Powell (who has worked at Allegra, Midland Grand Dining Room and Chiltern Firehouse) has created a menu alongside head chef Attila Gellen.
Taking influences from the bistros and brasseries of Paris and New York, dishes will be simple classics, starting with snacks like the pickled jalapeno gougères or lobster and country ham croquettes.
Starters include roasted scallops with garlic butter; fresh tuna crudo with tomato, tonnato sauce, and pickled celery, steak tartare and French onion soup.
For mains, highlights include a signature One Club Row burger au poivre; roasted cod with buckwheat polenta and girolles; and pappardelle with kale, chanterelles and lemon.
There will also be centrepiece sharing dishes such as whole lobster tagliatelle and bone-in ribeye with chipotle hollandaise with New York-style cheesecake; twice-baked chocolate cake, and Dutch baby pancakes for dessert.
The bar will range from classic cocktails to Champagne, a selection of vermouths to start and a rotating by-the-glass offering.
As well as a house pianist playing every weekend, there will be monthly late shows with a late-night bar, guest singers and UK jazz musicians.
It is the first time in the pub’s 145-year history that the first floor has been used as a dining room. The 45-seat space has been lovingly restored, with original 19th century panelling, fireplace, cornicing, floorboards and huge windows complemented by a bold prints from London artist Joy Yamusangie.
A further 10 seats at the bar will be kept for walk-ins, while the top floor – originally a flat occupied by the owners of Les Trois Garçons – will become spaces for private hire including a dining room for 12 guests; The Living Room for 24; and the entire apartment for parties for up to 60.
Of One Club Row, Benjy says: “After a decade in New York, I’m so looking forward to working alongside our team on the floor and at the door, with a focus on guest experience and hospitality at the core of everything we do.”
