Stamford Road will be shut along the southbound carriageway from its junction with Sheppey Road to its junction with Woodward Road for 41 days.
This closure – which started on January 27 and will be in force until March 8 – is to allow for the construction of a new footway.
It will introduce a one-way system in the northbound direction from Woodward Road to Sheppey Road.

There will also be a banned left turn from the access road to the rear of numbers 2 to 20 Woodward Road into Stamford Road, and from Sheppey Road into Stamford Street.
Pedestrians will not be able to access a section of Stamford Road up until Woodward Road.
Barking and Dagenham Council said alternative routes for traffic will be maintained and signed via Sheppey Road westbound carriageway, Flamstead Road southbound carriageway, and Woodward Road eastbound carriageway.
The temporary traffic order will remain valid for 18 months, allowing for the possibility of reinstating it if further works are necessary.
The council said work will be undertaken at all times during this period.
