An 18-year-old man was treated for “several wounds” on High Street around 1pm today (January 29).
Police and paramedics were called to reports of a stabbing and the man was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
Two men have since been arrested and remain in police custody while a crime scene is in place for further investigations.
High Street South, from Central Park Road to Barking Road, therefore remains closed.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the scene of a stabbing on High Street South, Newham, at 12:59hrs on Wednesday, 29 February.
“The victim, a man aged 18, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
“Two men have been arrested and remain in police custody.
“A crime scene is in place while further investigations are carried out. High Street South, from Central Park Road to Barking Road, therefore remains closed. Witnesses are being encouraged to share information via 101, quoting 3504/29JAN.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.02pm today (29 January) to reports of a stabbing in High Street South, East Ham.
“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“The first paramedic arrived in less than four minutes.
“We treated a patient for several wounds and took him by road to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
