Emergency services were called to a property in Boulton Road just before 3.50pm yesterday (January 22).
Ambulance crews, a clinical team manager and members of the hazardous area response team also attended.
Fire crews carried out a search of the home to check for elevated gas readings, but none were found.
Two people were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where their conditions are unknown.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a smell of gas at a property on Boulton Road in Dagenham.
“Crews carried out a sweep of the property to check for elevated gas readings but found none.
“The Brigade was called at 1628 and the incident was over for firefighters by 1749.
“One fire engine from Dagenham Fire Station attended the scene.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.53pm on Wednesday 22 January to reports of an incident on Boulton Road, Dagenham.
“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a clinical team manager and members of our hazardous area response team (HART).
“We treated two patients at the scene before taking them to hospital.”
