Police were alerted to a person on the tracks at Biggleswade Station in Bedfordshire at 6.20pm on Tuesday, January 21.
Paramedics attended, however, the person was pronounced dead shortly after.
The death is not being considered suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
The incident caused significant disruption on the railway network, affecting services between King’s Cross and Peterborough.
Thameslink, Great Northern, and Grand Central services experienced delays of up to an hour, with disruptions continuing until 10pm.
All lines between these stations have since reopened.
