They joined a panel discussion at Barking and Dagenham College on mental wellbeing in the classroom to give their opinions.
The discussion was followed by a tea and talk event with staff on how they feel coping with the pressures of daily life as teenagers.
“They were keen to share their experiences and even give advice to others,” college coordinator Claire Cockburn explained.
“We have an open-door policy so that students know help is here if they need it. These events show the support that is on offer.”
The students wrote ‘affirmations’ which they posted on noticeboards about mental wellbeing with lines such as “always believe in yourself” and “stay positive and never give up”.
They can also look in at a ‘support zone’ the college has set up if they are struggling and get help whenever they need it.
