On September 11, 2023, Shammah Nicholas entered Burnt Ash Food and Wine with two kitchen knives and stabbed two men.
Nicholas, 22, of Southover in Bromley, pleaded guilty to two charges of grievous bodily harm with intent and two charges of possessing a bladed article.
On Friday (January 17, 2025) Nicholas was brought to Croydon Crown Court from HMP ISIS for sentencing.
But Yogain Chandarana, defending, said his client had not been interviewed for a probation report due to failures by prison staff.
He requested an adjournment to ensure the court has all the necessary information before Nicholas is sentenced.
“There’s no doubt this is a very serious case. A young man goes into a shop with two knives and stabs two men, one of them being left with very serious injuries,” Mr Chandarana said.
Judge Antony Hyams-Parish said: “If you’re asking for an adjournment I’m minded to grant it. In any event he’s looking at a very serious prison sentence.”
Nicholas’ sentencing was adjourned until May. He will remain in custody until then.
