Mums and dads are being invited to TCES Nurture Primary specialist school in Custom House to find out about its therapeutic learning environment.
An open evening is being held on February 5 from 4 to 6pm for potential parents as well as other professional educators to see how it is helping neuro-diverse children back into mainstream society.
The school in Varley Road is part of The Complete Education Solution social enterprise that is submitting the evidence to Parliament.
Nine out of ten of the group’s pupils go onto higher education, jobs or training within five years of leaving the programme.
“We are feeding our success rate into the House of Commons special needs education enquiry,” a spokesperson for the group explained.
“We never give up, never exclude, just quietly turn around the lives of thousands of pupils.
“These are youngsters who would have otherwise been lost to the system — and ultimately to society.”
The TCES group is turning around the lives of youngsters aged seven to 13 who have faced barriers in mainstream or alternative schools.
It gives a lifeline to children who have spent much time outside mainstream education and has never barred a single pupil in its 25 years — whatever the challenges.
The maximum class size is six, each with a team of therapeutic practitioner, teacher, social worker and family support worker for integrated therapeutic education.
Parents attending the February 5 open evening are taken on a tour to experience the learning environment. Anyone interested can reserve a place online on the Eventbrite website.
Two other schools in the TCES group that run therapeutic learning also have open evenings in the spring.
TCES East London in Welfare Road, Stratford, and TCES North West London in Old Oak Common Lane, Acton.
The Stratford school open evenings are March 13 and May 7, from 4 to 6pm. The Acton school open evenings are March 5 and 15, also 4 to 6pm.
