Steve Morrison, who has spent more than five decades in broadcasting, television and film production, was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to the media and creative industries.
Mr Morrison, who was born in Glasgow and now lives in Hampstead, spent 28 years at Granada Television between 1974 and 2002. He formed Granada Film before becoming director of programmes and chief executive in 2001.
In 2003, he co-founded independent TV production and distribution company all3media. He became non-executive chairman in 2013 and during his 11-year tenure grew the UK company into one of the most significant international producer-distributors.
His production credits include the films My Left Foot, The Field and Jack and Sarah.
He also helped start the Third World First campaign group, which became the anti-poverty campaign group People & Planet.
A former Governor of the British Film Institute, he has held board and non-executive director roles at the BBC and was rector of the University of Edinburgh between 2015 and 2018.
Mr Morrison said: “I am delighted to be recognised and to be part of the success of Britain’s creative industries.
“I have been helped by extraordinary people throughout my career and I enjoy nurturing new talent.
“I share this with them and my family.”
