Some of the most sought-after destinations are awaiting travellers with Ambassador’s Cruise of The Week – the Hidden Gems of France, Spain and Portugal Cruise.
Beginning in Spain, the 12-night cruise stops at the historic port city of La Coruna. Walk along the storied promenade of Paseo Maritimo and visit ancient sites such as the Tower of Hercules for amazing views of the city overlooking the Bay of Biscay.
There’s an optional tour of Portugal’s bustling capital of Lisbon which allures with its mix of old-world charm and seaside vibes. Embrace all the city has to offer and enjoy delectable cuisines, including the famed pastel de nata and Polvo à Lagareiro.
Passengers can take the optional trip to visit Spain’s Bilbao before the ship ventures to France’s Le Verdon, a coastal town on the doorstep of Bordeaux’s famous wine country. Lorient, on the Brittany coast, provides the perfect opportunity to engage with local maritime history by visiting the Second World War-era Lorient Submarine Base.
Why visit Lisbon in March?
With daytime temperatures ranging from 16°C to 19°C, visiting in March is ideal for those wanting mild climate conditions and the added benefit of a lower chance of rainfall. But it’s also a good time to experience Lisbon without the summer crowds!
The parks and green spaces of Lisbon will also start to bloom and the botanical gardens including Estufa Fria in Edward VII Park and Tropical Botanical Gardens in Belem are sure to delight visitors.
So, what to pack?
Layers are the best option as well as a lightweight jacket as the weather can be changeable. If the temperatures are kind, short sleeves and shorts may even get a showing but it can still be chilly early mornings and evenings, so a mix of attire is recommended. And, if you’re going to be exploring the cobbled streets then comfortable shoes are a must.
Even if the ‘r’ word is forecast…there’s still plenty to see and do in Lisbon with many shops around Rua Augusta and the Colombo Shopping Centre.
The Hidden Gems of France, Spain and Portugal Cruise departs on March 9, 2025, on Ambition, from London Cruise Terminal.
