People living in the area have been puzzled why there has been lots of police – allegedly around 30 officers at one time – spotted around Collier Row Road and Clockhouse Lane today (January 8).
Others claimed “sniffer dogs” were in the area and police were walking near the Colley Rowe Inn and near Churchill’s Fish & Chips.
The Metropolitan Police however says that nothing major happened, and in fact this was to support the community.
A spokesperson said: “Not an incident as such, but part of a high visibility bit of policing to provide reassurance to the community.”
