Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called at 6.46pm on Sunday (January 5) with reports of a domestic incident in Hailsham Road.
Local officers who were initially sent to the scene were later joined by specialist firearms units after threats were allegedly made.
The Met Police said negotiations were held that resulted in the man surrendering himself to police.
Daniel Williamson, 33, of Hailsham Road, has now been charged with intentional strangulation, threatening a person with a bladed article, section 18 wounding with intent, assault by beating and affray.
Williamson will appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today (January 8).
