Police tried to stop a car which officers chased in Brightfield Road, Lee, on Thursday (January 2) at 9.20pm.
The Metropolitan Police says that officers suspected the car was involved in an aggravated burglary.
Two men then fled the car and climbed onto a roof in Hedgley Street.
Emergency services then warmed the area as officers and firefighters negotiated with the men to come down safely.
They were then arrested by Kent Police instead in relation to other offences.
A Met spokesperson said: “At 9.20pm on Thursday (January 2) a vehicle was pursued by Met officers in Brightfield Road, Lee.
“The vehicle was pursued because it was suspected to have been involved in an aggravated burglary.
“Two men absconded from the vehicle and climbed onto a roof in Hedgley Street. Met officers, alongside the London Fire Brigade, negotiated with both men who were brought safely to ground level.
