Thai O’Cha scooped the accolade at the Euro Asia Curry Awards, which celebrate the country’s finest curry establishments.
Hundreds of businesses and individuals were nominated for the awards.
The focus is on curries, but there is also a Turkish cuisine category and Tower Hamlets shone here too.
Adana Turkish with Fusion, in Bethnal Green Road, Bethnal Green, won best Turkish restaurant in east London, while Rack and Bite in Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch won best grill house in Tower Hamlets.
Pacha Drinks, in Wick Lane, Bow, whose soft drinks are served in many Indian restaurants, won best soft drink company in the UK.
Around 50 regional and national winners were chosen and received their gongs at a ceremony in Romford.
The Euro Asia Awards, now in their eighth year, were founded by Bangladeshi chef Shorif Khan.
He said: “We’re very excited to once again be celebrating the incredible people, restaurants and takeaways that make the UK curry industry as loved as it is.”
