The incident happened in Ilford Lane near Winston Way just after 4pm yesterday (January 1).
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man who had been stabbed.
He was taken to an east London hospital where his injuries were assessed as non life-threatening.
A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident at a residential address in Romford.
He has been taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody.
Police enquiries into the circumstances continue.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 16:05hrs on Wednesday, 1 January to reports of a stabbing in Ilford Lane.
“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man aged in his 20s suffering from stab injuries.
“He was taken to an east London hospital where his injuries were deemed to be non life-threatening.
“At about 19:30hrs, a 38-year-old man was arrested at a residential address in Romford.
“He has been taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody.
“Enquiries continue.
