The discovery was made in Egmont Road near Brighton Road yesterday (December 11).
A crime scene has since been put in place as an investigation is underway to identify the remains.
Police enquiries continue by specialist officers from the South Area Command Unit.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “On Wednesday, 11 December police were called to a residential property in Egmont Road, Sutton after human remains were found.
“An investigation is underway to identify the remains, and a crime scene remains in place.
“Enquiries continue by specialist officers from the South Area Command Unit.”
