Officers were called to reports that a man had been attacked in Avery Hill Road just before 12.15am yesterday (December 10).
London Ambulance Service crews treated a man with head injuries before taking him to hospital.
Following the incident, the main entrance to the university was closed, although the rest of the campus was “open as usual”.
The main entrance to our Avery Hill campus has now re-opened following an incident overnight. The police were in attendance but have now left the site. We’d like to thank our security team for their swift action.

The entrance reopened at around 3.40pm the same day.
Whilst conducting enquiries on scene, police found that three other people were also sprayed with the substance.
Police have today confirmed (December 11) that none of the victims are in a critical condition.
Tests were carried out and it was found that the substance was non-toxic.
A crime scene remains in place and urgent enquiries are on-going.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “On Tuesday, 10 December police were called to Avery Hill Road, SE9 at 00:13hrs following reports that a man had been attacked and sprayed with an unknown substance.
“Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a man for head injuries on scene before taking him to hospital.
“Whilst conducting enquiries on scene, officers found that three other people were sprayed with the substance. Tests were carried out and it was found that the substance was non-toxic.
“None of the victims suffered any life-changing/threatening injuries.
“At this early stage, there have been no arrests and urgent enquiries are on-going.”
