Northern line trains will start serving the station again on December 23, according to a Transport for London (TfL) committee report.
The station has been shut since June 26 last year while work to replace two “unreliable” 26-year-old escalators takes place.
Work at the station took longer than expected after transport bosses decided some “structural elements” of the station also needed to be replaced.
TfL has said that these structural elements could not be inspected before work started, but were then assessed as being “beyond repair”.
This increased the scope of the project, and led to the summer 2024 reopening date being pushed back.
In October, platform tiling work, including cleaning and painting, and work in the ticket hall were still ongoing.
But passengers should once again be able to use the station within the next two weeks.
If the December 23 target date is met, the station will be open for less than 48 hours before it shuts for Christmas Day along with the rest of the Tube network.
Services would then resume again on Boxing Day.
Alongside the new escalators, the “redundant” ticket office has been removed and the ticket barriers realigned to provide more space for customers and additional ticket gates.
