The incident happened in St German’s Place near Shooters Hill Road at 7.30am today (December 11).
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended, however, the man was pronounced dead shortly after.
Police enquiries are ongoing to inform his next-of-kin.
His death is being treated as unexpected, but not suspicious.
A file will be prepared for the corner.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called 07:30hrs on Wednesday, 11 December to reports of an unresponsive man in St German’s Place, SE3.
“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and performed first aid on the man, aged in his 20s.
“Sadly, despite their best effort the he was pronounced dead at the scene at 08:30hrs.
“Enquiries are ongoing to inform his next-of-kin.
“His death is being treated as unexpected, but not suspicious.
“A file will be prepared for the corner.”
