The event returns to South Dock for the fourth year with teams from businesses taking to the water on July 10, inspired by the 2,000-year-old Chinese dragon boat tradition.
They are raising funds for the international WaterAid charity to improve hygiene for an estimated 700 million people worldwide living without clean water.
“The dragon boat teams show their community spirit,” WaterAid’s Corinne Stone said. “Every splash and paddle stroke helps move closer to a world where everyone, everywhere has life’s essential clean water.”
The race last year raised £57,000 with 25 teams taking part. The charity aims to make bigger waves this time by raising even more.
Teams of 11 to 17 each have a £1,500 fundraising target.
They can register online by the June 20 deadline at the ‘wateraid.org’ website, with a £375 entry fee, ready to go full steam ahead.
