The Carabao Cup steps up another gear this week as the remaining Premier League clubs enter the third round.
As the likes of Manchester United, West Ham and others face second-round ties before securing their place in the third-round hat, those top-flight clubs with European commitments this season got their usual bye into the next round.
That includes holders Newcastle, who beat Liverpool in last season’s final to end their 70-year trophy drought.
There are two all-Premier League ties in the second round, meaning two of Brentford, Bournemouth, Wolves and the Hammers will fall at the first possible hurdle.
When is the Carabao Cup draw?
An exact time and date for the Carabao Cup third-round draw is yet to be announced, but it is expected to take place on the evening of Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
With Sky Sports broadcasting Manchester United’s second-round clash at Grimsby on the same evening, the draw will be held before or after the game.
The second-round draw took place at 7.20pm BST ahead of Wednesday evening first-round fixtures, and Sky Sports could follow the same schedule.
