The Venue in New Cross was once a cornerstone of south east London’s nightlife and its doors in 2020 – but its spirit lives on through reunion parties that capture its legendary energy.
The next event, a special boat party on the Jewel of London, sets sail from Westminster Pier on December 21, promising a night filled with nostalgia, music, and connection.
Organized by The Venue’s original owners, these reunions recreate the magic of the iconic club, where countless memories were made.
Resident DJ Benny, a familiar face to regulars, will take the helm once again, spinning the feel-good anthems that defined The Venue’s legacy.
He told the News Shopper: “It’s amazing to see people I used to see every week, but haven’t seen for years.
“It feels like no time has passed. People are high-fiving, hugging, and singing along—it’s just like old times.”
The boat party offers a unique way to relive the club’s vibrant atmosphere, with classic tracks from the 80s, 90s, and beyond setting the tone for an unforgettable night.
Benny, who made his mark in The Venue’s basement and 90s rooms, says these reunions have reignited his passion for the music that made the club special.
He explained: “The beautiful thing is playing tracks I haven’t touched in ages. It’s crazy—I got to the end of my journey there, but the reunions have completely reignited my love for it.”
The Venue was more than just a club; it was a community hub where friends gathered and strangers became part of something bigger.
Benny recalls how regulars would turn up week after week, often on a whim, knowing they’d always have a great time.
The reunions capture that same spirit, creating a space for old friends to reconnect and relive the magic.
Tickets for the December 21 boat party are available via Skiddle, and more details can be found on The Venue’s Facebook page.
Benny encourages former regulars to join in and pay homage to the club that meant so much to so many.
He said: “Come to a reunion.
“You’ll hear the songs you love, see the faces you’ve missed, and remember why The Venue was so special. At the moment, this is the only way to experience what The Venue was all about.”
While The Venue’s physical doors remain closed, its legacy continues, proving that some memories are too good to fade.
