Storm Claudia is set to affect large parts of the UK from today (November 14) to Saturday (November 15), bringing with it heavy rain with weather warnings issued for large parts of the country.
A yellow weather warning is in place for London, and will be in place from 6am today until 6am tomorrow, with warnings that weekend travel could be affected.
The Met Office is warning that heavy and prolonged rain will affect the capital for most of the day on Friday and into the early hours of Saturday.
Heavy and prolonged rain has been forecast to hit the capital on both days, which could lead to potential flooding for some areas.
People are being advised to check before travelling over the affected days, as the rainfall may impact rail and road travel, with some roads potentially being closed if persistent rainfall leads to flooding.
Widespread rainfall of up to 50mm is likely, although this could be higher in some areas of up to 80mm of rainfall.
Along with the heavy rainfall, strong easterly winds have also been forecast, potentially bringing further disruption.
In London, rain is forecast to impact the capital for much of the morning and early afternoon, before easing and becoming cloudy by 3pm for much of the evening, although some further potential showers are expected between 6pm and 8pm.
The Met Office has warned that these showers could become heavy at times, with potentially thundery showers during the evening, with temperatures potentially reaching up to 15 °C – mild for this time of year.
Overnight, further outbreaks of rain are expected, turning drier throughout the evening, with the likelihood of some fog and mist developing in some areas, with temperatures dropping to 10 °C.
On Saturday, conditions are expected to be a lot drier, with cloudy and sunny spells for much of the day, and temperatures reaching highs of x.
